Whole Life Planning
David Kiel will present the rationale for and methodology of "Whole Life Planning" in the corporation. His approach is based on the Life Business (TM) Program developed by Dr. John Eckblad, and first deployed in Europe with such corporations as Shell, ICI, BP, and Proctor and Gamble in the 1980s. Dr. Kiel and Dr. Eckblad's book: If Your Life Were a Business, Would You Invest in it? published by McGraw-Hill this spring is a comprehesive introduction to their approach.
Kiel will discuss the proposition that whole life planning must precede career planning if the succession plans of organizations are to be truly reliable. He will also discuss their method, used in the 13 step Life Business (TM) Program, of adapting corporate strategic planning activities to help people find personal focus and financial freedom. These include.
understanding what "life businesses you are in"
calculating an ROI in terms of life energy and satisfaction for your major activities
understanding key personal relationships along dimensions such as customer, supplier, stockholder, etc.
projecting a future vision for your life enterprise
getting rid of the "dog businesses" in your life and creating "rising stars' to take their place
creating a realistic, data based financial plan that helps realize your dreams
managing your money like a business does even if it makes your broker unhappy
